The Utah Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Radiation Control offers a free continuing education course (3 core credits) entitled, “Radon Resistant New Construction” to
The course consists of an informal lecture with ample opportunity to ask questions of the instructor(s). Bring any real life experiences or concerns to this program so they can be addressed. The course is supported by a manual that includes copies of all visuals and supporting text, in order to reduce the amount of note-taking. The instructional material includes information on the health risks of radioactive gas, how to test a home for radon, techniques on how to reduce radon levels in new homes, and EPA standard guidelines and procedures.

John Hultquist is the current section manager for the Division of Radiation Control’s low level radioactive waste & uranium mills and has worked for the State of
Christine Keyser is the Radon Program Coordinator for the Division and has worked for the State of Utah for over seven years. She holds radon measurement and mitigation certifications from the National Environmental Health Association and a Master’s degree in Communication from the University of Utah.
